    Something New

Okay, haven't been on the forums in a while so thought I'd post a few samples from a recent project. I am painting a series of portraits on request based on a social network profile picture and incorporating an element of that persons interests/hobbies to show their character. I have tried to keep a fairly consistent style and a light hearted approach - sending the subject updates of the painting as the process evolves. I still have a list of others to work at but struggling to find the time to complete just now. Around 3-4 hours spent on each in total.

Speedy and nervous brushstrokes that seem to conglomerate gravels and dust into a person for few moments to disappear soon thenafter. A quite intriguing effect. Excellent. The first one made me think of a Frida Kahlo self-portrait ...

I love these! Really great portraits - they very much look like individuals with uniqueness to them, unlike the sameness that some formula work can fall prey to.

Great series. Hope they were duly appreciative.

Thank you for the kind comments! I've being working on the 4th one but struggling to get time to finish it at the moment.

PS. Belvrog - the 3rd one was based on the "tough mudder" assault course experience.

This is "Yorkshire Lass" - my current portrait in progress. The subject is my friend Steph who came over from the U.S to do a year of uni here. She loves Yorkshire tea but has a cheeky picture holding the Union Jack with a thumb down so as a response, I figured I'd give her some rural charm :-D

Another good one. A quite spontaneous smile and expression.
