    Portrait of Chilli

I've been meaning to paint Chilli, my good friend's long haired chihuahua, for a long time. He's a great little guy and a very determined little character.

Thank you RedSaucers and Enug. It took a ridiculous amount of time to get those eyes right. The rest was easy!

what a wonderful portrait... the colors and eyes are amazing, to capture the white long fur the way you did is stunning.... really love this one Robyn...you really have a talent for animal portraits, whether it be horses or dogs...

    Hi Robyn...
Cute, I almost hear the soft, subtle but sweet growl coming from this little fella.....
Nicely done, I'll leave it up to someone else to pet this great little guy. Just remembered
that line from 'Pink Panther Strikes Again' when Peter Sellers ask 'Does your dog bite?'
    Take care,
    Steve

Really cute, but it looks like he also might bite with that attitude

That's what art's about, isn't it -- at some point it's about the relationship between the art and the viewer, sort of like speed dating. (D Akey)

'soft, subtle but sweet growl coming from this little fella..' Ha ha!

He is quite fond of me, even though I've been cutting his toe nails for years. He's probably not a growler, but chihuahuas seem to get to a certain age and become a little more assertive.

Years ago my friend could never get him to walk on a lead, and it stopped them from doing lots with him they would have liked. I finally put that collar and lead on him, took him out of their sight, and quietly and firmly put the pressure on that lead until he gave up and began to walk. It took ten minutes, but he has walked without arguing ever since.

    Nothing like beating a chihuahua!
