Thread: Landscape art: my wife :-)

  1. Landscape art: my wife :-)

Many of you know I do a lot of digital landscape art. What you probably don't know is that my wife is also a landscape artist - but in a very non-digital way, working outdoors in oil-paint. After years of working as a designer, like myself, she decided a couple of years ago to pursue her dream of being an artist, and now has work in galleries across the UK and has collectors of her work as far afield as the US and Australia. She has her first solo exhibition in July this year.

Anyway, she has just launched an ambitious Kickstarter project here:https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...365-landscapes to produce a painting every day for a year. I know there are a lot of art enthusiasts amongst us, so I'd really appreciate you taking a look, and perhaps sharing the link with anyone you think might be interested.

I hope you'll forgive this shameless bit of advertising :-)

Wonderful. Ambitious indeed, but if she loves it, what fun for her! I bet when you guys go out for an evening the perfume she wears is 'Eau de Turps. (Holy mackerel, I looked that fanciful name up and people are actually already using it. I won't give them credit though since I came up with it independently. . . as no doubt has any oil painter with even minimal sense of smell.)

Well, I for one am envious. I bet she is going to get amazingly good after a year. I wonder if her work on the first days will resemble the work she puts out on Day 365. I can't imagine that there won't be at least some evolution with that level of concentrated work.

    Go lassie go!

She does wear disposable rubber gloves when she paints I hope. That much turpentine soaking into the skin is not so healthy I've seen and heard from lots of oil painters.
