I don't except to open it in PhotoShop which is what I do because I have it.

There are other free online image inverters where you upload an image (I think) and it does it automatically. But since I never use it I wouldn't know how good or easy or limited it is. This link is not on the fly in Artrage, though there may be a way to do it in AR but I don't know.

An example site I found with a quick keyword search on Google:

    http://www131.lunapic.com/editor/?action=negative

Will be interesting to see if anyone knows whether AR can.

I went through the whole program and couldn't find that option either, or maybe I missed something. But I'm wondering if it can be done via Layers / Blend Mode.

Yes, it can be done using Layer Blend modes. Here's how:

1 - Create a new layer above the layer you wish to invert.
2 - Use the Fill tool to fill the new layer in with pure white (Red: 255, Blue: 255, Green: 255).
3 - On the layer panel, right click over the white layer, select "Blend Mode" and then select "Exclusion".
4 - Merge the layer down into the original image, if needed.
Nothing is easy to the unwilling.

I have previously done it just with Exclusion blend mode on the image - tried it just now with a white fill layer and both ways give the same result; at least as far as I can tell.
