Tropical Flower - Anthurium?

I'm unsure of the name of the flower as I painted from a reference photo. However I googled and that's what I think it is.

My first watercolour submission after reading hints here in the forum and trying to apply to my painting. Using the Tracing function, I traced an outline then painted in watercolour picking the colours from the reference photo. I did a bit of lining with the ink pen and blurred. To get a little more texture on the stamen I applied some glitter over the watercolour layer blended and added noise. There were many layers and a lot of blending.

The background was a problem for me - I didn't want to take away from the flower but it looked a bit stark on it's own. I'm happy to receive suggestions on making a better painting.

Very nice flower. Like your technique. As far as suggestions: I suggest you drop the background down. a vignette might add dimension too. A darker background will recede and the flower will come forth. Add a hint of highlights to the petals where you want the petal form to appear closer would give it more dimension.
