    New to Anime

    Hello Everyone!

I am new here to the Art Rage community as well as to the world of Anime. I would like any tips I can get for drawing anime via ArtRage. Heres a sample of my work.

I am not experienced enough with this type of art, but it looks like you have a very good start, welcome to the forum and hope to see more

I think any tutorial (on any program) would translate pretty well to ArtRage. Be sure to explore using transparency lock to aid your drawing.

I don't know about drawing anime per say, but like anything else, find some good reference and you can trace over it until you have a handle on the sensibilities that anime artists have. There are several different looks from which to choose from round and cute to streamlined and sinister. So you have to decide which you like best and go for that. If you already know how to draw those things and are just wondering what ArtRage can do, you can look also through 'Tips and Tricks', as well as on YouTube for some tutorials.

Main thing: have fun with it!

    Anime or Manga

Anime is the animated Manga. Manga is the japanese comic and we westernes also think of Manga as a specific style. So if yo just want to learn to draw the Manga style here is a good site: http://www.mangatutorials.com

If you are looking for doing the art of Anime you need a good animation software like Anime Studio or some of ToonBoom animators.

I am a big fan of Anime and admire Hayao Miyazaki (Studio Ghibli) and all of his films. I have not yet seen his last film, "The wind rises", but it is now showing in the cinema here, so I soon will. Looking at his films and studying some of his books will give you a lot of inspiration and knowledge. His books are really outstanding if you want to learn about Manga and Anime art. If you can not afford to buy them, get them at the library. They will help you finding the lot.

    Happy Anime and Manga study!
