    Mr Kookaburra

    I painted this picture from a reference photo that I took. this guy visits us twice a day and waits for a piece of meat. I snapped the photo as he fluffed up his feathers. He's sitting on the verandah rail.
    I used the colours from the photo to block in the colours. I then used the knife for quite a lot of smearing :-). I've never used the option to paint using the colours in the reference so not sure if it's cheating? (I've used the colour picker).

    A really nice and cute bird with a quite exotic look. You painted it very evocattively. Brava!

    He looks like a baby with those fluffy feathers. . . although I only know kookaburras from the old camp song, and I've never seen one. Cute little guy. Nice painting.

    One flew in front of my car on the way home today. I love those birds with that wonderful flash of blue on their wings!

    A beautifully painted Kookaburra Ann. You did a great job with the brush techniques. I love the option of being able to pick up the image colours.
