Shades in Charcoal - A New One 2th April

A simple exercise totally done in Art Rage. I was just trying to emulate a charcoal finish. Quite fun actually!

Nice! I'm a big fan of black and white work (though I love bright colors too), so this is right up my alley. I love the simplistic style. Very nicely done!

You've certainly captured that look of charcoal. Beautiful work.

Thank you Ves, Vandra, Caesar and ScribbledSoul (lovethat name!!)

Ves, it is mostly chalk/pastel. New layers here and there to keep the crumbly look crisp and not blend.

The background is using one of Juz's (I think, maybe not .... correct me someone) beautiful Grunge stencils. Here is a link for some beauties from PeterW - http://forums.artrage.com/showthread...ghlight=grunge

Light background and a little darker with the stencil so it looks smudgy - like you would get working the charcoal into the paper.

Robyn, this is no simple exercise dear friend... it is really a masterful study in texture, form and light excellently carried out. you have given me a renewed appreciation for black and white works.
