I'm loving this thread. It's sort of a Zoetropic experience without the speed.
You remember those paintings of Pygmalion in which he has done a sculpture so perfect that she extricates herself from the stone and comes to life? This has that kind of feel -- as if the model is demanding movement. It feels sequential, like a Muybridge series of photos of people and animals in motion. It isn't so much about the form as the Will to free itself from the restrictions of a painting in a single frame -- like it really captured the Spirit of Dance like a firefly in a jar at night. It's fine and dandy to look at, but its natural state is freedom and movement.
