    Mum's Straw Hat

A Fellow Artist's Mother. This ref had such great feeling, I staid true to it. She was in a diff. setting. I wanted to enhance her slight Etherial qualities. Oils. Orig size appx 4200x3600 pxls at 300 ppi resolution. 3 layers, merged. ArtRage4.

A really together kind of lady, beautifully painted. I do like the sky behind; it works very well.

Minthiar, CopeSpeak, MarilynAnn, Caesar- Thank you for the Wonderful responses you gave. Mum was originally standing in front of a brick wall- not very interesting. I pumped up everything from contrasts, to shifting into warmer tones. The sky is painted with the same palette to add continuity.

Wow, this reminds me a bit of my Mom, an avid gardener and green thumb. Beautiful work Skylar, outstanding.

Excellent. Great improvement to the background from your description. I can visualize the wall and see this is way more appropriate. Good on ya. Great depth to the portrait sitter's persona whether you enhanced what was in the photo or not. That dimension exists within the painting.
