    Layer Bleed thorugh

I have noticed that If I have a bottom layer with any texture added by oil paint or palette knife that it bleeds thru the next couple of levels.
If I turn off the lighting on the canvas it looks right but I loose what I am trying to do.

Do I have something set wrong?

The texture of the paint is meant to show through, as it mimics the sort of textures you end up with if working in true media. You may opt to circumvent this feature using the Bump Blend Mode, however. To use it, right click on the layer that you will be working on, above the others, and select the "Bump Blend Modes" (do not confuse the other "Blend Mode" option for it), and then select "Replace". Any marks you make on the layer will then overrule the paint textures of the lower layers.
Nothing is easy to the unwilling.
