'My studio view' [update: video for Part 7 added]

I was pondering what to paint -- and thought 'why not paint the trees out my window?'

This was started as a 'digital plein air' painting.. but completed using photo ref (because the light/sky changed after a few hours)

tools used: roller brushes, custom loaded palette knives and MANY layers (for texture)

'My studio view -- backyard trees'

I recorded an 'overview' of this artwork being created -- in total, there is about 50 minutes of commentary plus video (tips/tricks/insights, etc)

this was broken into 7 smaller sized video clips

    Thumbs up

Man, that was some work hammered down, with great result,... reminded me the dark forests where I spent part of my childhood.

I've gone for a wander through your very impressive Bio and Portfolio. You're a hugely talented man, and the paintings you post on the Forum are just scratching the surface of what you do.

I really do like your trees. A difficult subject to be convincing, and they work.

    Very well done!!!
Yes, I believe if we just use our local surroundings for inspiration and subject matter we will never run out of things to paint.

Great detail painting and thanks for the video to show the process. It helps me to understand more how to pain trees
