    Golden Easter Egg

    A golden Easter egg.

The egg was hand drawn using symmetry, I used a layer with a solid black egg on it that remained turned off as a layer that I could use to "select layer content", I use that selected area on other layers. This works well for being able to apply layer blur to smooth out color contouring and shading. I don't have to worry about the blur bleeding out beyond the egg shape. I always have a layer that is unaffected by everything that I do to the rest of the painting so the selected area remains crisp and solid. I do this for all major shapes. I start by drawing something in black and then select the layer content and make a new layer and start there to apply color and shading.

Thanks Jean! I'm playing around with shading and the blend mode multiply layer setting.
