I like it, but I always like all your work , you produce such wonderful backgrounds and when combined with a Japanese theme always a winner.
    Merry Christmas.

I like this. It kind of comes slowly into focus and then, all at once, you see the subject. A fitting title for th piece.

It looks like an inlaid briar snuff box. Exquisite!

The gang here is so right on. That background is out of this world. Very wooden like an old cedar or oaken hope chest. Imagine what it would have been like for a geisha to possess such a treasure of dreams to be under contract to whomever and be ordered to America. She brings with her a hope chest, a symbol of a love she had with a young man who remained back in Japan. The weathering on the chest speaks in song and poetry like a Japanese lament for voice and koto with overtones of American Blues. The sounds of separation. It's very beautiful and richly emotional.

Yes, wonderful - lots of good praise in the thread for a terrific painting. Hard to top the already rave reviews so I'll just ad my five gold stars.

wonderful...love the rich earthtone colors in this one
Try to see as many angles of vision as possible...no single one of us has a "handle" on the whole picture.
