Marilyn-Anne I love the lavender and purples in this a nice painting...are these out of your imagination, painted from your garden?

    Hi and thanks

I have painted flowers for many years but am not a gardiner. I use photos to inspire but change them quite a lot. Years ago I got to paint in flower painting classes with Wendy Gwirtzman and other National Water Color society members at the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester NY. We visited people's gardens and painted to our heart's content. What a treat.

    Hi Marilyn Anne,

If I compare something of yours as recent as The Blue Wagon, I can see that Box Garden has shorter, highly textured brushstrokes, and within those brushstrokes, more intense color, and a bit of roughness around the edges, and there's a hint of a dark background, so the change has been dramatic, although the whole still has your characteristic tonal harmony to pull it all together ...

    Very well done :-)
Try to see as many angles of vision as possible...no single one of us has a "handle" on the whole picture.

Superb painting Marilyn. Really like the painting on the box and the fence.
