    steve ... I love how you have made a great still life image with the simplest of content.. 3 stacked coffee cups.. excellent colors and background make this a very nice piece of art..

    The technique here is very similar to my "Study for a Chinese Fan," and I take that as a compliment, although it's entirely possible that no similarity was intended, and I don't even mind that very few people thought to comment on my Fan, even though paintings with visible and heavy impasto underpainting rarely are seen on this forum ... In Stacked Mugs, you can see how the underpainting lends vertical weight to the cups, and also creates visual tension across the horizontal plane of the picture ...
