Look Out! It's my first ArtRage painting

    Look Out!

I hope the picture tells its own story.

This is my first Artrage painting. Well, the lines were done in Painter years ago, from a drawing of an Austin A40 I found rusting in a paddock even years earlier. But I was never happy with the finished thing, so I thought I'd try again and learn about the watercolors in Artrage. There are also scanned real watercolor layers.

Anyway, I think it came together okay for a day's mucking around.

Well , welcome and I really like your rendition of the old Austin a4.
I used to own a beige one many years back so i can say with authority that the likeness is good , and yes I am that old.
I look forward to seeing more of your work in the future

I agree. The color works to add interest while not competing with the line.

    Welcome!

Thanks folks, you are very kind.

I also fixed up a typo in my submission, of course it wasn't an A4 but an A40. Yes, my Dad used to own one also, and given my age, limey-g, that really puts your advanced years into perspective. :-)

On my next painting I need to investigate further the interaction between grain and watercolour, since I pretty much ignored that here. In Painter I am always changing paper characteristics to get the look I am after--so I'm sure that must be possible in Artrage also.

  6. Really nice, and brings back memories of when I was a kid (No Austin involved, it was an old Ford van and a Saab, but the action was just the same )

I really like this style of painting, and your clever way of mixing real watercolour and adapting it to AR. I'm going to have a go myself I think it is such a good idea. I'll let you know when I have something to show. Well done you.
