    One of the Dwarven Spice Girls. . . I actually went to high school with her. . . Ginger Oakenshield as I recall. . . and boy was she clever at Sport. . . Varsity runed four years running. Later her tale took a down turn when she was arrested in a Sting operation where she was caught lumber jacking. . . Ran off with a burglar hobbit. . . but I digress. . .

    Very thick. Very good image of one of the bearded dwarfs. Good and stout.

    Can't help myself. I have a thing for Gim. Even named a new cat after him. Rough, wily, and just plain cute in a Middle Earthen way. It's the red hair and beard....

    ... I read all 3,000 pages aloud to my kid from an edition that had no illustrations and it always amazed me how accurately he could remember and describe the characters especially Gimli and other dwarves and elves he identified with in such vivid detail that if I got tired (which often happened over what must have been several months of bedtime reading) and I'd skip a few sentences he'd tell me to read the passage again
