Another Rose Made with Knife and Pen

I know it is loud, but I am fascinated with how well the knife works on painting a bud. I wanted to share these and welcome any crit as to painting leaves and the calyx.

    Tube,knife,pen, duplication and effects.

Sandy.. you have the roses down with this technique. the only that that is a little off to my eye is that the green of the stems and leaves is a flat monotone green ( a graphical flat ).. but the roses uses a 3D volume and shading...?? if you could modulate the greens a bit and somehow introduce roundness to the stems....

I love this effect, and especially the unique shadow-thing going on in the background. I find roses so beautiful yet so difficult for some reason.

    Thanks so much Rondo!

Yes, this is the area that bothers me Gary. I am trying to use the knife, but somehow I cannot get the strokes that I want. Also I have tried the oil brush-but I think I will need to play more with it as far as the brush and the loading.
    Thanks dear!

    Thanks so much Neal!

Thanks MaryLou, I would love to know your opinion of the tips and tricks of the rosebud thread I started too. I think you would enjoy it. Maybe between the two of us we can get the calyx and leaves down. I love the thick texture of the tube and knife-I just want to be able to carry this on to the rest of the flower.

Lovely colours Alexandra,as to the stems a lighter streak down the centre of the stem leaving the edges darker would work to give roundness.
