I had heard this before, but am so glad you brought it up again. It is funny how we can be more receptive to different things at different times. I really enjoyed listening to this again and even signed up for his podcast.
Appreciated as someone who has spent most of his life appreciating art but not really being able to produce the work at a volume and quality I would have liked. I found it very applicable and at least comforting to know that it's okay and common to man especially for a still hopeful late bloomer.

What a great clip, PD! Just the sort of encouragement everyone needs.

(By the way, I believe Ira Glass is the cousin of the great American composer Philip Glass. I believe he did an interview with him recently on the debut of his latest symphony.)
The only problem with humor is that no one takes it seriously.

I remember my college design teacher's giving similar advice 'grit your teeth and power through it'

Another piece of advice I found really helpful was 'repetition'... Approach the same piece more than once, try it in different media etc. Each time you will learn and hone your skills. No two will be alike and you'll be able to discern the strengths (what's working) and weaknesses (what's not).

An excellent clip, nice use of typography

Scott, I did not know of the familial relationship with Phillip. Love them both.

Saphire. You are probably correct that this is in a format not recognized to the iPad. Do you have access to a mac? Can anyone offer a suggestion?

I just found it so appropriate to me and that it would be appropriate to you as well. This insatiable desire to create something beautiful.
