Pen and Ink Wash: Old Villa

This piece was heavily inspired by looking at this particular website. http://parkablogs.com/category/tags/sketchwalk

I've been aware of these groups for some time and have always wanted to particpate, but to no avail i'm still looking for a group that does it in south Florida.

I grabbed a B/W photo off of Flickr as a reference.

This has got to be my favorite technique out of all the ArtRage mediums i play with. I will always cherish working in ink and watercolors. I get such and kick of euphoria from the finished piece, or unfinished, thats the beauty of it.

I had the technical pen on about 3% for the line work.

I basically went nuts with the rest of the colors, was striving for a sepia look at first, but then kinda turned into a color wash.

I applied a grunge stencil to the ground, sky and house for the final touches.

    Enjoy and many thanks

    Mike B

heavily influenced is right. and you have captured the essence of this style beautifully. love the combination of watercolor look with pen and ink. the watercolor wash (even though it's a grunge sticker) looks and is very convincing and stunning. It is very good for us to remember to sketch. I would love to go on a sketch tour also. I like his blog very much too...thanks for the link! and for being inspired. it inspires me as well.

The look of a genuine color wash is not easy to achive, but you've nailed it.
