Great opportunity for us all to ponderate, dear Suha.
Syria in another country with so much glorious history and a civilization since ancient times that it's sad to know what's happening to that country in the Middle East goe-political power game where populations are kept prisoner by the various players in the region.
Unfortunately a vast area in North Africa and Middle East has more and more young people with unanswered hopes and understanding and wish for opportunities, freedom and dignity of men and women as well (too often not considered or constrained by violence when they ask their equal dignity and rights will) who, especially where economy is in deep crisis and too many people are kept in poverty, find in front of them the dictatorial ruling by either an oligopolistic government around some family and clan or a feudally and religiously entitled lord to face the risk of an integralistic if not terroristic theocracy. Anytime people and government don't respect each single individual person and freedom and his/ her other legitimate right independently from any other consideration, as equally worth to anyone else, we cannot then respect minorities, communities, an entire population, thus not even the real purpose of peace and justice law and religions should aim to.
Other places of the world have their own different problems, such as in subsaharian countries, but, in general, we seem to have lost most of the values civilizations are based on which may explain all the disasters, including the ones in the so called developped world.
    Too sad!
