    My first painting...

...this is my first painting... ever... in my life I'd always wanted to try - but never got around to it, mostly cuz I didn't want to spend hundreds in an ongoing hobby - as my other hobbies already cost too much haha.. anyhow, it was REALLY fun, and I would love some honest criticism, so fire away!

    Great! Quite natural!

Thanks everyone... I appreciate the compliments very much, it truly means a lot! Does anyone have any criticisms? Advice on technique?

I do have one comment on your painting in that although you painted in bright sunshine I feel the shadow under the duck is a little too dense and too sharp around the edge to be realistic.

I love duck also, yeah - nice painting, but the critic with the shadow is true, hard shadows on earth are not realistic, you find hard shadows only in the outer space (places without an atmosphere)

but the rest is wonderfull hope you have layers and you can do smooth/making fuzzy the shadow
