    George Clooney in progress......

Maybe someone likes to see how I this portrait of George Clooney progresses.

First I traced a picture....and roughly filled it up with chalk wit a pressure of 100%....in the first two screenshots.

In the third I turn the traced layer off and start working on the left eye.... After this I do not need the tracedlayer anymore but paint what I see on the picture with crayon with low pressure between 17 and about 30% and sometimes with chalk for the real darker parts.

On the first view I added some global shading to his face...

On the other two worked on his hair with crayon size 8 pressure of around 50..
And in the last one I added a background color on the first layer. The painting is done on one layer.

I also worked on his mouth....and nose, cheeks and forehead.....

You're going on perfectly and Your procedures are very smart and effective indeed and get neat and refined outcomes (provided someone has Your considerable talent at least).
I also guess You're making a Christmas gift to Yourself by portraying George Clooney ...
    Panta rei (everything flows)!

On the next printscreens I tried to add some more contrast with schading, for which I am scared to do because I could mess it up this way. Also I did more work on the eyes to get the expression right. I did some more on the mouth and chin and cheeks and nose. I went all over the place to add more contrast and get the skin color right. I made the eyebrows darker...and did some work on one ear... The difficulty is that his age makes him more charming but I find it difficult to paint what I see because it could result in a face that looks more tired and/or more aged than it really is....
Also his chin is too big....

So I have to work very hard to get my christmas present ready for christmas...

Geoff, a verry merry Christmas to you and your familiy too and a happy and healthy 2012.

I am getting in the right direction, but still he is a little bit younger, paler and to smooth.

I worked on the hair, the total shading of the face, again some work on the eyes, the mouth and nose, I finally got the chin in the right proportion but not finished yet... I did a little on the chest, the suit and shirt...

And the final stages and the endresult:

Screenshot 1: I worked on the suit and the hair....
Screenshot 2 and three, I darkened some shadows, and the eyebrows, again some work on the eyes and his charming wrinkles. And finishes the neck and shirt and suit. And added the " beard" area....so that it looks alike....

The last picture is the final result....
