making part of a layer transparent?

    Hello,
I am trying to get part of a layer to be transparent. I painted an image in the demo version of Art Rage which does not have layers. Then once finding that Art Rage is so cool, I decided to buy it.

My problem is that my 1st layer now has an opaque white layer on it and I can't draw anything on the layers beneath. Is there a way to select the white and delete it somehow?

tried using the Eraser but it did not work. Does Art Rage support Alphas? Can I bring the image into Photoshop, select the white, ma the an alpha of the white, save it out and then reload it into Art Rage? Is there an easier way to accomplish this? Help!

    Hi Milowerx.

You can open the painting file you created from the free version with the full version. Then you can edit the paper settings for the layer, and make the paper transparent (set the paper opacity to 0%).

Then you're able to add a new layer, in the layer stack drag the new layer to below the original layer, and paint beneath your original single layer.

If you edit the paper opacity for the new bottom layer, you can be back to painting against a while paper colour generated from the new bottom layer.
