    Mech Cockpit

Something a little different this time.

I was on a film shoot a while ago and I took a still that I wanted to use as a paintover base in ArtRage.

One of my favorite tools in AR is the palette knife and using the still as a foundation, I pushed and pulled it around to impart a sense of impending energy and action in the image.

    Enjoy,

    André

An impressively good and professional preliminary concept painting. I share Your appreciation of the knife in particular, for me, of the hard knife. I also use the wet one in some cases, more rareli the soft one that rather drags color than blending it with a difficul control on possible distortions by whirling displaced paint ...

Thanks everybody for the comments. I appreciate it!

I painted this in between setups and takes on the actual film shoot. Having the set, camera lighting and the actor's performance there made an impression on me that I wanted to bring to the painting concept.

As for the palette knife, I plan on using the new loaded option as well in future pieces. I really like the analog/traditional feel of many of the tools and mediums in AR - very much like the real thing with the added advantage of cntrlZ/Undo - although one shouldn't become too reliant on that!

    Thanks again,

    André
