    Reveal Current Layer command

Under Tools >Layer options> reveal current layer.
What does the 'reveal current layer' tool do.
It does not seem to show you what layer something is on, what does it do?

It adjusts the layer panel to show the currently selected layer. It's only noticeable if the currently selected layer, on the layer panel, has been scrolled out of site. So say you have 20 or more layers working, and you scrolled the layer panel down, so that you could change the blend mode of a higher level layer. You could then hit the shortcut key for "Reveal Current Layer", to bring the selected layer back into view.
Nothing is easy to the unwilling.
