Thread: Setting ICC profiles to images

    Setting ICC profiles to images

    Hi

I am hoping to get a couple of my digital paintings printed and have been advised that each image needs an ICC profile so that each image is printed using the correct colours.

As I understand it, my image will look different dependant on which monitor I view it on, so a printer also will view the colours differently unless an ICC profile is embedded in the image which tells the printer exactly what colours it should have.

I hope I've understood this correctly, and if I have, my problem is that I don't know how to embed an ICC profile.

Please can anyone give me a laymans explanation of how I need to go about this as I don't have a clue.

    Regards

Artrage doesn't have support for adding ICC profiles to images, so you'd need to use a different application to do this. It's possible that another user would be able to suggest which works for them.

Does a jpg not include the profile of the program you save it in, example if you save as jpg in photoshop wouldn't it automaticaly use that profile.

Unhappy setting ICC profiles to images

Unfortunately, I do not have Photoshop. I have another image editing program that I got with my Olympus digital camera. When I tried sending my images to this program it does not let me edit them.

So I am completely as a loss!

What computer do you have Windows or Mac. For the Pc there is a good free program called Fastone image viewer and basic editor.

Hello! Nothing perfect in this world but I had the same problem than you. The most important thing to know is : is your printer can manage ICC. If yes, with Photoshop Element 7 you can coordinate your image on the screen and your printing using the right ICC. When you find the right match, keep it. It works very well for me. I have a Canon Pixma Pro 9000 Mark II printer. It's super.

I have sent them an email tonight to see if they do a Mac version. I bought my first Mac computer two weeks ago and can't find anything that is as good.

I am not familiar with the ICC thing you're talking about, or what you need to best print. There is a post somewhere in the general forum about that... I did want to say that you do not need anything special or another program to get a .jpg off of Artrage, you just need to export the .ptg file as a jpg or tiff or whatever else is on the list there, I think png and psd.

The export is on the file drop down menu at the top.
