    A started new portrait

Used a reference picture, but avoided to trace or pick colors. Oils and all on one layer this far ...

Thank You all, dear Limey-g, Amanda and Saphire.
Actually it didn't take too much to finish so I'm posting it in the main gallery. Unfortunately I always forget to set up some sort of samples palette to work from and I mix directly on the same layer the color I pick and guess is right, which makes the whole a little less effective as a procedure although it may add some different nuances here and there which may talk of a more natural and real world approach I hope. I didn't over-detailed it, but I hope the impression will look enough expressive and accurate.

    Coming along nicely...
Try to see as many angles of vision as possible...no single one of us has a "handle" on the whole picture.

    Great work

What tools do you use for the background? I love your work and how it looks canvas like.

Looking good. Interesting colors you choose. Will you work on the texture of the background?
