When Did the Dinosaurs Know They Were Doomed?

Many of us were born under a growing, dark, and threatening cloud. To some degree it shaped who we would become. Many times, some we may never know about, we were carried to the brink, to the edge of an unfathomable war by countries pursuing an inflexible foreign policy that we assumed a monolithic international communist conspiracy and they assumed a monolithic capitalist, imperialist conspiracy, despite evidence to the contrary.

Our childhood games were about this threat. Instead of playing cowboys and indians, we played war and attacked Russians. We dug bomb shelters and placed cardboard over them to protect us from the blast. Later on in my young life with this cloud of pending death above us all, I convinced girls to do things, "because we were going to die anyway" that they would have not ordinarily done. Anyways that worked out nice.

I definitely remember duck and cover. Also the reason I never saved for old age. I was sure we would be blown up before I became old. Oh oops.

Had to Google to find out what your signature meant - Your were a Fire Chief? Just curious if the translation on Google is correct?

it was a huge money making scam and a sham. orchestrated by those who make their money off scaring people and then starting government programs to combat the fear. the rabbit hole is deep.
student desks would not protect you from nuclear attack, but it did scare the hell out of us as kids and it made for some deep pockets for some folks.

    nice pic btw.

Yes it means Fire Chief, retired. Seattle and San Diego for 37 years.

I agree with you both. We share outright skepticism. Remember President Eisenhower's farewell address. He warned us that even he could not control the military industrial complex. Unbelievable coming from a retired general and former president.

Thanks food the exchange of ideas.
