First Posting - Advice for new artist?

Hello everyone - I bought an Asus eee pad recently and it came pre-loaded with artrage - WOW is this ever an awesome program.

The majority of my art experience is in the realm of photography - and I'd like to also learn to draw and paint as well - I think knowledge of both would be mutually benefitial.

The question I have is this - what resources do you folks know of for learning where I can learn how to draw an paint digitally?

In other words, I need to learn about art, and digital art at the same time.,...

I would appreciate any help that you could give me! Thanks again.

    -Ian

    Hi Ian (welcome)

Here's a website recommended by another forum member a while ago that I've found useful. It covers a good range of subjects and techniques. It's not specifically about digital art, but the same principals apply, particularly as ArtRage mimics natural art tools and methods so well:

    hy leantoast, welcome

I just found this --> http://www.art-is-fun.com/ ... haven't been able to look at each tutorial there, but what I've seen so far seems to be useful

instead of reading tutorials you can of course just start painting with ArtRage, it's so much fun

    Hi again Ian

These two mainly involve Photoshop and Painter, but you can use Artrage to re-create

Look forward to seeing your work.

    All the best

    Edit to add.

Check your local community for Drawing and Painting, Figure Drawing Classes. Getting some personal input/tutoring will help a lot, plus it's great meeting other artists be they old hands or beginners

    Welcome to the forums, Ian!

If you haven't already done so, you can register ArtRage on our Member Area at http://members.artrage.com. This will enable you to download the latest version ( 3.5 ) which includes a number of improvements and new features over the version which comes with the EP121.

To locate your serial number, launch ArtRage, click on Help, then 'Change Serial Number'. You'll see the serial number listed. Take a note of that.

To register your serial number, visit http://members.artrage.com then-

1/ Click ‘create account’ and follow the instructions if you haven't done so before
2/ Log in, then click on 'My Products'
3/ Click 'Register New Product' then select your version of ArtRage , enter your serial number and click the 'register' button to register your software

You should now see your serial number listed on the 'My Products' page and you can click 'download' to download the latest version.

Feel free to email me at support@artrage.com if you have any problems and I'll be happy to help.

The Asus tablet comes with Android, correct? Artrage runs on the Android operating system? Any of the other tablets could run artrage too? I have been looking at the Acer tablet as well as the Asus for other things, but this would be awesome!!

    Hi Ian and welcome here,

contrary to what everyone else has said, I would say to you.......................to just pick up the tools available in ArtRage and proceed to have a lot of fun and at the same time to learn as you go................I speak as someone who started with AR when it was a free program and also as someone who has never had a lesson in Art.........and, thanks to AR, I found something in myself that I didn't know I had.........the progressing ability to create visually what is in my mind.

    Go for it Mate!

    Best to you
