    next fairytale with a twist

The story of the Sleeping Beauty.....The illustration is entitled: "Someone always gets up earlier....

Still only the base colors to get the "late afternoon"mood....

    linework

    Hi Mike,

I do ink on paper, in this case the illustration was drawn on A3 and then scanned into photoshop in 2 pieces.
Merged together and saved as a PSD file.....

From there on it's Artrage, coloring and adding textures and using the eraser a lot!

    Regards,

    Arjen

Firstly let me satate i'm am a beginner, but as you learn about the fundementals of drawing you notice things you probably wouldn't have noticed before and what i notice here is that the blocks around the windows are out of prespective for the view point. In that there is too much of the underside of the blocks showing, particularly on the left and what this does is give a flat appearance instead of one of depth.

The blocks surrounding the window on left should be more like those surrounding door on the right.

I would try and correct these Arjen before continuing.

Googling stone arches and taking a look at some references should be of help or maybe making use of 3d modelling software (latter advised by Mr Jon Hodgson in reply to a follower question in a youtube video)

Another thing i notice Arjen is the right door is not in correct position if it is meant to be fixed to the door surround, it also needs correcting.

    Hope my comments help.

    corrections

    Hi Chuckart,

First of all: THx for the feedback. I do apreciate your comments on the drawing.
This is the reason they invented the internet, to be able to get feedback from around the world.

Second: Yep...... I have to correct these beginnersfaults! I probably would have ignored them without your comment!
I guess I was simply trying to get the drawing done in to much of a hurry.....Have to stand back and work on the perspective again....
Will take a couple of days due to circumstances, but Hopefully you wil give me a feedback on the corrections.

    Thx again, You'r very helpfull...

    Regards,

    Arjen

Working on the lightning and texture.
There are some major flaws that I have to work on in the next days, but this is where I picked up after moving house..
