If you need a decent vector software to complement AR . . .

    Hi guys,

Just stumbled on this Serif offer. I currently use version X4 and was very happy with X3 on offer here -
    http://www.serif.com/flowchart-softw...FQod4Qodln8JfA

I find it intuitive and compatible with AR insasmuchas, I can create vector shapes, patterns etc if needed, can distort them using a warp mesh in DrawPlus to conform to perspective if needed - and then export them as a png or other file format to be imported to a layer in AR. But that's just me.

    Worth a look?

Dammit - sorry Kenmo. Thought I'd put you guys onto a goodie then. Wish site designers would make dates and such more obvious on pages like this.

I keep asking them to do a mac version of drawplus as there is no good vector drawing app on mac without spending a fortune on illustrator.

Oh and I have tried many. From inkscape to ezdraw etc etc etc.

    Serif sales practice

There is no doubt it's a good piece of software, but I found Serif sales practice a bit strange.
I own DrawPlusX3 already and have newly asked them for a discount price for upgrade to X4. The automatic purchase system per button 'upgrade' on their web site refused any attempt, saying I don't qualify for that. Since I registered my version after install, I contacted customer support. I got told, I don't qualify because it doesn't matter that I own registered copy (!) You must purchase software directly by Serif and not through resellers as I did (!)
I really didn't expect such answer, although they suggested to contact their sales department by phone, as they have many offers under the prices stated on the web site (!)

Until then; here is the link to the free edition of Serif Draw: http://www.serif.com/free-graphic-design-software/

    Try that!
    Any response from Serif?

    Cheers

    That's odd Strandy,

Because I have bought Serif software from resellers on Ebay and then had no trouble purchasing upgrades later on from Serif themselves. Never asked them for extra discount if that's what you mean though. I just bought the upgrade through their shop and had no trouble installing it as a legitimate previous version was on the system. I've done this with more than one of their products.

WebPlus X4 to X5 for instance, and with PhotoPlus X3 to X4 as well. Purchased full versions from Ebay on release because they were being offered cheaper and then upgraded through the Serif shop when newer versions became available. ?????????

Another option for a good inexpensive vector program would be to look at Xara Xtreme...now known as "Xara Photo & Graphic Designer 7".
And just like with ArtRage, they also offer a "Pro" version that costs more.

Note that I can't post any Links as yet, so do a Google Search for Xara in your Browser.

I have the cheap version (Photo & Graphic Designer 7) & have found it works great with ArtRage Studio 3.

    HTH, Colin
