    Buildings with Balls...

    ...or - Country Spire & Spheres. This was the weekend painting exercise at WetCanvas. As usual, I combined refs. A simple one this time I just nestled the sculptures into the country church's grounds. Working size was appx 12x16 at 300 ppi. 2 layers (sky, and then landscape)Impressionistic oils on canvas. Here are the refs & a couple of WIP's also...

    Skylar - nice painting... I love the inclusion of the sculpture mosaic balls into it... add interest , color and focus.... also thanks to the WIP steps , these are very helpful...

    Very intriguing composition and nice execution. The church architectural style is curious too and is familiar in a way and weird in another way; a sort of mix, vaguely reminding me of the original architectures of Coppedé district here in Rome, designed and built built by architect Gino Coppedé from 1915 up to 1927 (when he died). Some other example of similar architecture can be individually found somewhere else too in ome.
