    Odd question

This may sound a bit strange, but if you enjoy working with composite images, it will make sense pretty quick. Is there any way to drop an image through a stencil? To, for example, filter an image through a texture and lay it on another image? There are several ways to do this sort of thing in PhotoShop, but they are all multi-step procedures.

No, there's no way to drop an image over a stencil and have the stencil trim it. What you could do, is fill the stencil, make that fill a selection (Edit > Select Layer Contents) and then use that to cut away the excess image. That, or just use the eraser to remove the image around the stencil.

Bout what I thought. Thanks SS. Was hoping to find a nifty shortcut. Now, that "select contents" sounds like it might have multiple uses.

Yeah, it's handy. Works great for cropping the canvas to meet the exact size of the painted area, for making stickers.
