Rome for Japan - How it ended

Following Misterpaint invitation, I set up a couple of ideas which I would hopefully turn into a painting for june's charity event.
I cannot decide as yet whether to proceed with either a Japanese Pietà where Mary and Jesus are Japanese or an Hokusai style inspired painting.
Here are the two preliminary experiments.
What do You think I should go on with?
    Thank You!

I would have to agree with our dear friend Eighty and say both also.

An attempt to proceed withe the Nipponic Pietà along a direction that did not convince me and back to what I think will be the fundamental elements, but on a possibly completely different background ....

Dear Caesar, wonderful ideas and beautiful start, both are terrific and thoughful, the Peita is my favorite, but have got to say, as usual, your first sketches have always amazed me, as here, the first Pieta knocks me over! stunning!

Thank You, dear Lee! The ideas are mine, but they're both riding on two ingenious artists masterpieces: a statue by Michelangelo and some prints by Hokusai I appropriately re-interpreted and integrated ...
