Thank You, dear Pat on behalf of my country! Actually it's Sorrento by it's not that easy to differentiat between single or double consonant sound for foreigners (and our kids too when starting writing).
You're right! In our limited geographic area we have a quantity and variation of natural, artistic, architectural, musical, gastronomic, cultural and millenarian historical marvels like nowhere else. After the year 1000, when there was an upturn out of the Middle Age darkest moments, when Greek Roman civilization and culture saved on copied books and codes in Monasteries and kept beck from trades with Eastern countries, either Bizantines and Arabian conquerd countries, it's from Italy that Humanistic phylosophy ignited Renaissance and progressed in all arts and discipline spreading them all all over Europe.
In a way we was the older sister among European countries and our patrimony so unmatcheably rich to be visited up to the XIX century by all educated people, while the Italian Section is a pearl present in all the most reknown Musei dealing with classical figurative art, at least up to the XVIII century.
