    Attempting to Post an Image

Please bear with me, I'm new to the forum and am trying to post an image. I have read the instructions about posting new images, but I wonder if it is possible to just upload an image directly to the Gallery?

I tried to upload a .jpg file (which is quite large 3.3 MB) but I expected to be prompted to save it as a smaller thumbnail. However, I only get the message:
    Upload of file failed.

    Thanks,

    John

I believe the limit to upload is around 488k. If you have an image management program, try reducing the size. Then it will work.
The only problem with humor is that no one takes it seriously.

    Thanks for your Help

I found a Thumbnail editor called "All Thumbs" and was able to reduce the size of the original file to a manageable one.

    Thanks again,

    John

If you're using ArtRage Studio / Studio Pro, it is also possible to set the jpg compression level via Edit -> Preferences -> Export. Lowering the quality slider will decrease the file size and overall quality of the jpg image when you use Export. I hope that's of some help!

Dave, I use a little third-party resizer ("Quick Image Resizer" ) that allows custom resizing settings. I have one set for JPG with a max. of 488K. No matter what size or type of image file I stick in it it comes up with a good jpg just at or slightly below 488K. It takes five seconds or less to resize my PNG AR exports to the perfect jpg for the AR forums. There is no thinking. Just drag the file over and presto, it's ready. It's great.

It would be great if, similarly, there was a generic setting in AR in the Export selection list to export the painting to a jpg file perfectly optimized for the AR Forum uploads. Just click a single menu selection and, presto, the file is ready for uploading to the Forums. No thinking. No guesswork. It's one of those little and easy features to implement that would be a nice touch.
