Creating a Color Palette From a Photo

I believe I have seen a thread or two here on how to do this but I can't seem to find them. Does anyone have a good technique for rendering a color palette from an image? Just curious if there is a simple way to do this. Thank you in advance!

    more tips in this topic:
Just say: "Rage It", because we already know it's art.

Dear Sketch, just read your question, and it made me wonder myself, so, maybe this would help, found a colorful photo, used the color picker (eyedropper?) and added them to the samples tray, the new colors can be saved by giving them a new name, exporting them and then they can be found and used again by importing them using the color sample button,,, hope this is what you asked about,,,,,thanks for the question!!!

Does anyone have a good technique for rendering a color palette from an image?

    Hi Sketch,

As you know there are no automatic palette function for Art Rage but we can pick the colors from the photos, this is the most simple but imprecise result.

Another way would be the external help , in my case, I used first of all the Painter functions for creating a palette from a photo, save the result as image and pick the colors creating the palette in Art Rage, but the palette created in this system is still just a choice of colors and perhaps not always the ones that we wanted.

Another way that worked for me the best was using the gradients created from a photo by Apophysis, as I work(rather play) with it I create gradients and use them in ArtRage too if I have any need. Apophysis is a free software and interesting one...

Finally, I did create few good palettes for me but I stick mainly to one as I like it the most and I am sure is mine. But occasionally is necessary to create a specific palette and perhaps there are other softs to use in this purpose , I just showed what I use myself,
    I hope this will help.
