of work under his name he must have had in his workshops about 20 artists working for him just so

Yer quite right, MacTavish! Ol' Rubens famously did not paint all the work coming out of his studio that had his name on it. His name became the name of the studio like Ford or Kodak.

'E 'ad 'imself a money factory filled with assistants of varying degrees of quality crankin' oot any commission he were granted.

I remember one anecdote that he had a lesser quality commission delivered to some aristocratic client who freaked because it sucked in their opinion. They were screaming to the blue heavens that ol' Rubens was a-runnin' the ol' bait an' switch scam.

Rubens, also a genuine politician replied in horror at the lousy painting, "Apologies. I didn't know you wanted your painting to be painted by myself. You should have said so. I would be most happy to do another myself." And he apparently did a good job on the replacement and that was that.

Oh aye, lad. Ye should start a studio o' yer own. Line oop tha visitin' nurses. Hand 'em a stylus and you sign it. Them nurses are trained in anatomy I'm told, so they could do the grunt work and you take the rewards. They're used to it from assisting doctors.
