A rule of thumb, and one of the reason's it's nice to get a fresh eye, is that certain stuff pops out as odd that is in the source photo or model to the viewer that the artist may not consider so distracting. And what you had before on the lip was one of those things. Don't get me wrong, sometimes peculiarities add character, so much so that the artist names the picture after a detail that stands out.
But in this case I like the pic a lot more because it gives us a clear look at the little one, in an area of the painting with a lot of detail happening. . . which makes sense and looks great by the way. I also really like the effort you put into the pattern on the cup, and the perspective on it is really nice.
So the pic is nicely balanced with the emphasis both on the mom, because she's large and placed in generally the first place we see (considering western readers are used to entering a page from the upper left), and then there's the baby with all the stuff around the hand area. Seems nicely balanced visually and charming in subject.
