    I need help painting wood

Anyone know of a good tutorial on how to paint wood textures?
Try to see as many angles of vision as possible...no single one of us has a "handle" on the whole picture.

    Hello,
Wood Workshop is a free program which allows for the creation of wood textures I know this is not what you are after but it could still useful as a guide to painting textures.
The only other options I know of are Photoshop tutorials which of course are many.

    Wood Texture

I have been experimenting with getting a raised texture for wood. These examples are stickers I had made from paintings I did trying to get wood texture. I painted with the oil brush and also the watercolor brush. To get the varied coloration, I used the fill tool. When make stickers from the paintings, I selected the "color" block and the "texture" block. The resulting stickers came up with what you see in these samples. I am sure others will discover a better way, but this is where I have gotten to up to this point.

I am adding this link to this thread as a similar question came up in the iPad section. The iPad doesn't support stickers and this is the only way I could reproduce the effect.

Import this to the topmost layer, change it to greyscale if you want (edit-adjust layer colours) and change the layers blend mode to overlay and then paint on a layer under that layer and see the effects you get!
