    Monument of Julien Dubuque

    Ref photo...The tower was built in 1897, he was the founder of Iowa's city (Dubuque), it over looks the Mississippi River...done in oil and knife

    A tiny tower against no threat. A really peaceful view and a good composition driving there and beyond.
    Incidentally I noticed that it's older than I am ....

    Quite a small tower, I wonder what it was built for. The painting looks quite peaceful in its sourrounding indeed.

    Jasmine, I had forgot to put in that he was buried in this very spot, so the monument is like a grave stone, thanks for looking

    If I ever go thru Iowa again, I'd like to make it a point to stop and see this tower.
