    Gamblin Artist Colors

Please find attached, my initial go at an approximation of select colors of the Gamblin Artist Oil inventory.

I have included most, but not all of the 'sampled' colors (doesn't include the Radiants, Metals or the new Fast Matte colors).

I hedge a bit on 'sampled' because I pulled the RGB values off of Gamblin's website color swatches through a non-colormanaged AR/PSD interface and assume that color management, white balance, color gamut and the like is not an issue - which of course it is, but for now this seems to be a reasonable start.

I also include a 'Landscape Palette' color picker that I made from:

And a mix AR screen grab showing how I compare my mass tone and tint mixtures to the real swatches from Gamblin. Not perfect, but perhaps a place to start.

As always, our mileage will vary and I look forward to any and all feedback.

    Regards,

    Andre

    Gamblin/MSP Mixing Palette Sample - v01

A quick color mixing palette to a neutral grey core (value 6) in Artrage Studio Pro using my "sampled" Modern/Spectral Gamblin pigments.

    • Hansa Yellow Light
    • Hansa Yellow Medium
    • Hansa Yellow Deep
    • Mono Orange
    • Napthol Scarlet
    • Quinacridone Red
    • Quinacridone Violet
    • Dioxazine Purple
    • Phthalo Blue
    • Manganese Blue Hue
    • Phthalo Green
    • Phthalo Emerald

I'm doing the same mixing across a flattened value Munsell Hue/Saturation Wheel cross-section in the actual oils and it mixes very similar to this digital sample (digital color management not part of the perceptual equation, currently).

    More to follow...

    Regards,

    Andre

Thanks Andre. Great color set. That color wheel picture makes an awesome sampler as well.
