    A Woman, Portrait # 6

    HI,

I used a black and white ref. picture for this one just to test whether I could color it correctly.

Used oil, air brush, pen and knife to achieve this painting. The hair was supposed to be silky smooth with weight, so I tried many hours to achieve it.

I may get carried away with eye lashes, what do you think?

Any comments and advice will be appreciated.

I think you made some really good flesh tones here... especially since you had to improvise them. With the eyelashes you should lean more toward the reference photo. We have to fight our brain that tells us what eyelashes look like. Our brains say there are a lot of them and they are bristly. You might eventuallyl lean more toward the reference for the shape of the eyes and more subtle with the representation of the lashes. Still I think you are doing great in your portraits.

Those staring eyes attract the attention so as all the rest seems to loose focus .... What a weird and tasty effect on this unique portrait style!
