    Inkscape

    Any Inkscape users here?

Can any of you recommend a good book or a website with easy to follow tutorials for a complete Inkscape newbie/dummy like me....

    Cheers

I played with it for a bit but dang, it's not easy. I need to go check out some tuts. If I can't get a proggy to do something I want within the first half an hour (instructions? What are those?) I put it aside for when I have more time.

Thanks for the links to the tuts... I think Inkscape will become my 2nd favorite digital 2D app... AR being #1 and Corel Paint Shop Photo #3...

    Wings3D, 3DCoat and Hexagon3D for 3D stuff...

Thanks to the tutorials I did this 90% in Inkscape with some finishing (texturing & coloring) in Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X3....

    Cheers

I do find Inkscape easy to use (once you get the handle of it) but it is very, very unstable even with the display option for no filters... I can't count how many times I've gotten the error "Inkscape has stopped responding"...

For my vector illustration I use Xara Xtreme and I have to say I do prefer it even over Adobe Illustrator itself : it is MUCH faster, the interface is more streamlined and some functions are unique.

There is an oper source version of Xtreme for Linux but I guess development is not up to the commercial version.

I bought the commercial one and I love it. It's a very cheap software considering it has such amazing features and performance!
