    Smile She Wore a Gardenia ~ ~ ~

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I am still in an Art Deco mood and decided to express the vintage
    design concept in a painting titled, "She Wore a Gardenia."
    Searched for a period song to accompany the painting and found
    this particular one by Louie Armstrong. Though he made recordings
    during the high point of the Art Deco craze, this one came a little
    later but I just love this version and decided to feature it.
    Made two versions of "She Wore a Gardenia" ... the first in a
    soft pink, and this one in a muted blue-violet shade. Wasn't
    sure which one to post so decided to feature both and allow
    you to decide which one you might prefer.
    These are beautiful Mairzie but I really love the first one. You have captured such a wonderful feel to them both
    Sometimes...I remember better with my eyes closed
    It looks like a self-portrait in that vintage style, dear Mair. Very elegant and interesting outcome! I prefer the second one ...
    What great stylization, Mairzie! I like them both very much!
    The only problem with humor is that no one takes it seriously.
    Dear Caesar,
    You have correctly exposed the "inner" me. Had researched Art Deco
    portrait posters, decided to paint something similar but needed a "face"
    to begin the painterly journey. At a loss for an idea, I used a personal
    photo of myself and for the first time used the Art Rage tracing feature
    for the outline then improvised in direction unknown as I continued.
    The result is as much of a surprise to me because I had began wanting
    to replicate an exact "Deco" inspired piece but ended up with my own
    creation with hints of period influence. A sincere thank you for your
    positive response.
