Katie - I'm blown away - this is incredibly outstanding. Old gloopy is put to such good use here with a design, composition and wonderfully balanced colors that just comes together in a piece of magic. I love the painting - and it gives me oodles of ideas.

Beautiful painting, and a great colour choice also.

Like a Chinese watercolor with some noodling. . . yet there's nothing wanton about these marks. Maybe chow fun. Maybe Thai. Okay, guess I'm hungry.

Wonderful rich colors. And the stylization of the trees is very appealing. It's moving a little into the abstract, which between the tool and the source style inspiration is actually a clever synthesis which alludes to the traditional and something new. I love it.

Very nice Ms. Coops. The verticality of it speaks of movement into the heavens. Sounds to me like an old theme that's still works as a design motif. Air and Earth and Wood, and I guess Metal too in that the surface feeling to me sort of gold or bronze adds that component. Probably some water in there too since a lot of these kinds of atmospheric things have clouds or mist, so implied floating water . . . All the elements are lifting very purposefully.

Anyway, the looping marks give it a bit of a grand dance feel to me. Again, you've done it up beautifully!

I totally agree with D Akey. I'm just not as good at painting words like he does.

    It's very beautiful.
