    Edge Detect

Ok this is fun... I'm not interested in opinions on the artistic merits of this, I'm just sharing a technique that has made me smile.

    1. Take a photo... I nearly missed this scene but was prodded into taking it.

    2. Run the Edge Detect filter, I'm using The Gimp, most image editing software will have something similar. You may have to fiddle with the settings but you want plenty of black and fine lines delineating the edges.

    3. Import it as a stencil into AR, you may have to invert it to get it to look like this.

    4. Make another layer and on the top one I've run the Paint Tube in black over the stencil.... Hey we have a line drawing!

    5. Colour in using watercolours on the bottom layer, I've done the sky on yet another layer out of habit, you needn't worry about that.

Feel free to download any of the images to play with.

Are those the houses in Totterdown, Bristol, perchance?! If so...that's where I live!...if not...it's got to be somewhere in Bristol?...(doesn't seem like Clifton to me, but it could be?)

Close but no cigar buddy.... I know the houses you mean, these are over the Severn Bridge in Chepstow, it was taken from the carpark by the castle.

It may be a good tutorial for making coloring books for children
but perhaps also for other ideas .
