    The Stronghold

After posting the progression in the WIP forum (thanks for all hints), I'd like to post the work also in the gallery forum.

Used pencil to sketch the initial drawing, then oil brush to block colors. Then used some stencils to give roughness to the rocks. For detailing, used colored pencils. To render the sky and the foreground horse trailing used the wet knife. Stickers for the grass.

It's a beautiful illustration Umberto! It would be a very nice cover for a fable book

Your initial sketch was undoubtedly a great one, looking at the perspective clues.
You then proceeded wonderfully and got a clean, neat, clear and fabulous iluustration outcome!
It would make a magnificent cover to a book having that title too!

I watched your progress in WIP and was waiting to see the finished version posted. It was worth the wait! Such a great, fantasy piece. The touch with the dust on the road is super!
The only problem with humor is that no one takes it seriously.

This is fabuloues picture, uuderzo. What i like the most in it is the texture of the rocks. Colors make also the right atmosphere.

Talk about being pulled into the story by a picture!
